Contest – 5 Free Copies of PimpMyNews To Win

Posted on 06 Feb 2009 by PatrickJ

Contest Deadline: Monday February 9th, 12:00pm Central

As promised when I recently did a post introducing the new PimpMyNews (PMN) native iPhone app, we’ve got a nice weekend contest for you – with 5 promo codes for free copies of PMN to be won.

I’m a long time PMN fan, and I’m enjoying the new native app a lot. PMN lets you listen to all the stories from your favorite news and blog sites, and even roll your own personalized podcast, compiled from your selected sites. Check out my recent post about it for lots more detail and screencaps.

Then hit the jump for details on how to enter for a chance to win a free copy …

How To Win:

  • Just add a comment to this post – and you’re in with an entry for our random drawing of winners on Monday.
  • For an extra two entries, tell us how you’ll use PimpMyNews and some of your favorite sites you’ll be listening to with it.

That’s it. We’ll draw our 5 winners next Monday (2/9/09) at 12:00pm CST. Good luck to all!

Please Note: Promo Codes are only good in the iTunes US store. This is an Apple limitation unfortunately …

I’m going to use PMN to listen to a bunch of different news sources on the drive to work.

  2. cleveland says:

I’ll use PimpMyNews for the latest stories from NBC and CNN that I usually never have a chance to get to until lunch!

  3. lordhong says:

I’d like to see NPR and CNN on PMN :)

    @hseplow , @cleveland & @lordhong – Good feedback.

I use multitask a lot while listening to my blogs – while putting up Xmas lights, shoveling snow and cutting the grass. (I also pop in my earbuds in bed and fall asleep to it a lot;)

Anyone else have “out of the ordinary” ways you’ll use it?

I am so intrigued to see how well this will work. I will use PimpMyNews (great name) to listen to macrumors, appleinsider, and all of the mac news sites I read every day.

@ slumdawg, lordhong, cleveland, hseplow – all of you guys are listening to JAiB as well right? Just goes without saying eh??? :)

I just downloaded PimpMyNews for iphone and I love the interface, the concept is amazing and it actually works. Most of these things cant read and are hard to understand, but the speech is nice and clear on this app.

The only thing that I notice is the feed selection is 90% left wing. Add some more center and right wing stuff to balance it out. If you are seriously putting up the Daily Kos what have you got from the other side? I might suggest Hotair.com, they have a number of feeds to choose from, and they are now farther to the right that Kos is to the left. and how about some Foxnews feeds? I see there ate a bunch from Msnbc and CNN…

But like I said, great product! Remember, more content = more customers = more money. And if you dont like profits, I doubt you would be designing and selling programs.

Good Luck, I’ll watch for some additions.

@Dunker – Glad you like PimpMyNews!

Re: feed selection, when you first set up your playlist on the iPhone app, users only see a fraction of the feeds available (we wanted to keep it simple for users during intial set up)

If you login to our full site on your Mac or PC at http://PimpMyNews.com , you’ll see that we have over 1,300 of the web’s top news and blogs from 59 different categories – there’s a pretty equal balance there (personally, we’re not left wingers;).

Unfortunately, Hotair only has a “partial text” feed, which doesn’t work well on our audio-based service.

We’re adding more feeds everyday. Thanks for the great feedback.

Sounds interesting. I would use the program to listen to lots of tech feeds, including JAIB and What’s On iPhone. I also read a lot of political feeds, so I would use it to listen to those on my daily commute.

  10. cleveland says:

Of course it’s a given PJ, I’ve been up for hours looking at all the feeds I’ll be listening to on PMN if chosen! PMN is such a great app and the best of its kind! Keep up the great work PMN Team and you too PJ! :)

  11. PatrickJ says:

cleveland – thanks for the very kind words!
