Applists – which is a sort of applications ‘portal page’ that helps you find, organize and launch your favorite web applications – has been updated to Version 2.0.

I already liked Applists and had it as a bookmarked favorite site, and this new version has quite a few major  improvements. Highlights of the new version include:

  • Thumb-friendly interface, which allows for ease of typing with the ‘ultimate fat finger’
  • The ability to find the world’s expanding list of available imageapps even faster
  • BYOA (Bring Your Own Apps), which allows iPhone owners to find and suggest new apps and add apps to their own accounts instantly
  • Sharing apps and lists, which allows friends to swap their list of posted apps and even their own BYOA apps
  • Sets, providing access to pre-created lists that can be added with a single tap.

Read on for a little more detail on some of the new features and some more screencaps …

The Favorites page is nicely laid out:

When you want to look for and add new apps, the first screen you go to lets you choose to search through all applications, or by the Top 10 most used, look through new sets, or even add your own new app via the BYOA screen.

If you choose to browse All Apps, the next nav screen lets you search through all, use Alpha View to search by letter, peruse categories, or see your friends’ applications.

Here’s the screen where you add an additional app to your Favorites list (in this case Windows Live Search):

The Sets feature at the moment includes Sports sets for college and pro football, as well as Major League Baseball. So you drill down through conferences / divisions and then choose a set for your favorite team:

The set for each team includes a wealth of information – The Dallas Cowboys set, for example, offered stadium location in Google Maps, team news from ESPN, individual and team stats, injuries list, roster, schedule, and easy links out to all the other NFL teams.

The ability to comment on and rate applications is coming soon:

This new Applists version is looking great. The navigation throughout the app is very good, and the new features work well. The BYOA (Bring Your Own Apps) and the ability to share lists with friends / groups look especially cool. And you’ve gotta love the Sports Sets.
