Apple has released a set of three new iPhone ads, that are a very different style to everything we’ve seen so far. These new ads feature people and usage stories – three different guys talking about ways that they use the iPhone / what it does for them.
One features a man in a shirt and tie telling us that Visual Voicemail is "One of the greatest advancements in the history of mankind, without question …"
A second one has the ‘regular’ guy above explaining how he used to carry four devices (phone, second phone dedicated to texting and email!!!, digital camera, and an iPod) and now he just needs to grab his wallet and his iPhone in the morning.
The third guy tells a story of using the iPhone to quickly visit a wedding web site to find the name of his girlfriend’s boss’ fiance, just minutes before dinner with the boss and said fiance, saving the embarrassment of having to ask the fiance’s name.
I like these ads. I don’t feel like they’re quite as slick or well-executed as the original series, but I think the concept is good. Having said that, I don’t think they picked the best possible usage stories as yet – hopefully there’s better to come in this same series.
