Syphone is a new (beta) freeware utility for Mac, that lets you view, save and backup your iPhone’s SMS messages.
Syphone uses the iChat format to display archived SMS messages, and does not require any hacking / modding on the iPhone, installing on the Mac only. Its features include:
- View synced iPhone SMS messages on your Macintosh
- Archive SMS messages
- Import/export SMS messages
- View SMS messages offline in an iChat-like interface with selectable colors
- Open Address Book contacts
- View the number of sent and received messages for each contact
- Support multiple iPhones
This looks like it will be a very popular app for heavy SMS users.
