Like millions of people out there that own an iPhone, there is one thing that is always on my mind. How do I protect my iPhone without compromising it’s beauty and more importantly its functionality. Now, I know that’s a tough one. Do I protect my iPhone like a tank? Wrap it like a baby and hide its sexy curves? Or forget about protecting the device, and just go naked? To be honest, I don’t mind going naked. Err, my device that is. So what to do?

JAVOedge is no stranger when it comes to protecting your Tech-toys, and they do it with style. So when I got the opportunity to do a review for the JAVOedge Metal Cover, it was really a no-brainer. So, after days of eagerly waiting by my window for Mr. Postman to come by, I finally got what I was waiting for.
Aircraft Grade Aluminum Protection
JAVOedge Metal Cover comes in three flavors. Silver, Red, and Jet black. Like I have mentioned above, the JAVOedge Metal Cover is made of oven spray painted aircraft grade aluminum. The inside is lined with a Neoprene foam lining that protects the iPhone from bumps and scratches. There are rubber grips on both side of the cover for easy handling, and also rubber grips on the inside to securely hug the iPhone in place.
While the cover itself is very tough, don’t expect for the cover to be of any protection when dropped. Unless of course it fell face down, with the metal cover taking the direct hit. The probability of that happening is pretty much zero. And even with that happening, there’s really not much of a shock absorbency in the metal cover to prevent it from damage. And I’m not about to sacrifice my iPhone just to find out.
What it will protect, and protect very well, mind you is the precious screen of your iPhone. I usually carry my iPhone in my pocket, and the extra weight, and bulk of a conventional case is just out of the question. The JAVOedge Metal Cover gave me that ability. I have the protection that I need when its in my pocket without all the extra baggage.

Design:
I was surprised how sleek this metal cover looks on my iPhone. The design is very simple, and yet very effective. JAVOedge also did outstanding work with the paint job. I was a bit skeptical about the design when I first saw it on the web site, but I have to admit I was really impressed. This is the kind of thing that makes you go “Duh! Why didn’t I think of that”.

Functionality:
Hey, is that JAVOedge in your pants…
The JAVOedge Metal Cover slides easily on the iPhone, thanks to it’s open design. The great thing about the cover is that it can be placed on either side of the iPhone. I put the metal cover on the front touchscreen when I’m out and about and have my iPhone in my pocket. When I’m in my office at my desk, I then put the cover on the backside, and I can leave my iPhone on my desk without worrying about scratching it’s back surface.
Now, here’s the problem with the JAVOedge Metal Cover. I’m looking at it, and I’m thinking “Wow, I really don’t want the cover to get scratched either.” In fact, I find myself trying to protect the cover itself sometimes. I know, I make it sound like it’s a negative thing, but it’s really not. The metal cover is actually very tough. The oven spray painted metal is really doing its job in maintaining its pristine appearance.

Another creative idea is to leave the cover on the front while charging/docked. Not only does it look funky sexy, but also keeps those nosy co-workers from being… uh, nosy.

After several days with the JAVOedge metal cover, I’m happy to report that it still looks and feels like a million dollars, and my iPhone still looks like $599.99 + tax. Yes, $599.99, just like how it was couple of months ago.
