Installer.app has been updated today, – to Version 3.0b3 – and the new version is looking excellent!
As shown in the screencap above, it now has Sections to break up the long listing of programs – which was a huge wish list item for tons of
folks. Sections are titled well so that you can find what most interests you quickly, and include: Recent Packages, Games, Dictionaries, Multimedia, System, and Productivity.
Installer’s new look also includes prettier icons at the bottom of its screens, which navigate to the Featured, Install, Update, Uninstall, and Sources tabs.
It would still be nice to see an option to expand and collapse all sections, but overall this new version looks great and should be very well received.
The new version works with firmware 1.1.1, and will show up under the Update section in Installer itself. One small note on the upgrade – you’ll need to also update your Community Sources once you’ve updated Installer itself in order to see available applications correctly.
