I’m not sure how new this is, but I had not seen it before last night. Sports Tap bills itself as ‘the ultimate iPhone sports portal’. I don’t think it quite lives up to that yet, but it does have some very nice features.![]()
Its screens are all very well fitted for the iPhone and easy to navigate – the home screen (shown above) uses nice big icons, and all of the individual sport screens make it easy to go back one level or go home when you want.
What I like most about Sports Tap is that it offers not just scores, but some stats and standings that are easy to get to. So you can easily see not only that the Texas Longhorns are winning (hurrah), but also check where a win will leave them in the Big 12 standings.
In the NFL section, you can see some useful stats as well as team standings. You can look at season-to-date stats and leaders, and also at each week’s leaders in key areas.
Sports Tap’s stats and standing info should be a big help in winning some bar-room arguments. When your buddy insists that Rutgers only has one loss this year, you can quickly check the Big East standings and see that in fact they’ve lost twice – and hopefully the next round is on him 🙂
So far, Sports Tap only covers MLB, NFL, and NCAA Football – but it lists the NBA, NHL, and NCAA Hoops as coming soon.
