Gmail Does IMAP

Tonight Gmail has started offering IMAP access.  This should provide an improved mail client experience for all of us who are Gmail users on the iPhone.

I just added an IMAP Gmail account to the iPhone tonight and it’s already doing one very nice thing by keeping my Gmail Inbox in sync between the laptop and the iPhone – very cool.

If you want to add a Gmail IMAP account on your iPhone, you have to first enable IMAP in Gmail on a desktop browser – go to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP section to do this.

Then on the iPhone, follow the easy setup instructions provided HERE to get your IMAP account rolling.  And let us know what you think of it …

Damn – sorry guys – hope your accounts get the IMAP love soon. I’m sure you’ve already tried this, but just in case – I have seen a few posts where people said they only see the new IMAP settings after logging out and back into Gmail …
