There’s a new piece of OS X malware out there that is lurking.
It’s called the OSX.RSPlug.A Trojan Horse. It’s a malicious little guy, but the good news is it is not an actual virus and will not self-propagate from one mac to the next.
Chances are you will only get it if you’re surfing some ‘questionable’ content at best if you know what I mean… Infected computers probably clicked on a video they were looking for to view it, then a message would pop up stating that you need a new codec to view the video. A disk image will start downloading and then when you mount it you get asked for your admin password.
What’s important to remember here is that you should never under any circumstances install software from untrusted sources. It’s just too dangerous and can mess things up to no end.
