Apple Disabling 3rd Party iPhone Apps Again

British iPhone reviewers have reported that it comes pre-installed with a new update (1.1.2) that disables 3rd party applications. (the iPhone is set to release in the U.K. on November 9th)

This update closes the ‘TIFF exploit’ that had made it so easy for iPhone owners to install 3rd party app after 3rd party app on their iPhones.

The effect of this update will be huge. Installation of these types of apps has gone almost mainstream.

So what should you do? Well, if you have a ton of 3rd party apps installed, simply hold off on installing any iPhone or iTunes updates. Programmers will inevitably find a work-around for this in the near future.

Of course, Apple would love it if everyone simply waited for the official iPhone Software Developers Kit to be released in February… But that isn’t going to happen!
