There are reports out that new iPhones ready to go on sale in the UK this week are running a new firmware  – Version 1.1.2.  This new firmware is said to break current jailbreak methods (used to add 3rd party applications to the iPhone) by patching the TIFF exploit they are based on.

Apparently, the only added features spotted so far on firmware 1.1.2 are French and German keyboard layout options and support for dozens of languages.

The big question that’s still out there of course is whether the new firmware will kill off existing 3rd party apps on the iPhone, as 1.1.1 did.  If it does, there will be a lot of folks holding off on updating again …
