The Food Network now has an iPhone optimized site
Great news if you’re a Food Network fan and iPhone owner, or even just someone who wants some recipe help while you’re on the go with the iPhone: the Food Network now has an iPhone optimized site.
The site may still be in a sort of beta stage, (as it was spotted via a broad search for iPhone sites by the fileunderawesome site)., but it’s already looking good.
It’s divided into two main sections: Recipes and Videos, and also has a recipe search feature. The video section only has
around 15 clips so far, and does not include any Iron Chef footage as yet. The recipes section is nicely laid out, and allows you to browse through by ingredient, chef/host, holidays, and everyday meals. If you browse by chef/host, all the network’s main stars are there – Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, Emeril and all the rest.
Once you drill down and pick an individual recipe, it launches a new page which is not optimized for the iPhone – so they may still be working on that portion of the site.
One thing that this site has made me realize is how much of a Food Network fan I’ve become. A couple years ago I had never watched it, and then my wife and her Mom commandeered the TV one night and watched episode after episode of Iron Chef. I didn’t like it at first – but now I’m hooked on that show and quite a few others of theirs, and I knew almost all the chef names on the Recipes By Chef page! Ouch …
