Apple has confirmed that tomorrow there will be a firmware update for all iPhone owners – to Version 1.1.2.

We’ve been hearing for several days now that UK iPhones would carry the new 1.1.2 firmware, so the update is not a big surprise.  The new version is said to add language and keyboard support, as well as access to The Cloud WiFi hotspots if you’re in the UK.

The expectation is that this new firmware will ‘break’ 3rd party applications and the ability to install them, just as Version 1.1.1 did.

So if you’re not in the UK, or desperately in need of some greater language support, and you’re fond of the ability to add programs to the iPhone, you’re probably skipping this update for now.  And waiting for the iPhone hacking aces to find ways round 1.1.2 – which probably won’t be a very long wait given recent history.

I know I’ll be giving this one a miss …
