The iPhone/iPod team, including Pumpkin, Edgan, Dinopio, Drudge, Kroo, and all the rest have already jailbroken the iPod Touch version 1.1.2.

Wow. The new iPhone 1.1.2 firmware is not even showing up for everyone in iTunes yet, and it’s already been jailbroken. There’s even a new application in Installer, called OktoPrep, to get your 1.1.1 phone ready for the next jailbreak process.

Erica Sadun at TUAW has a big rundown of testing out the new jailbreak routine. It doesn’t yet have a pretty graphic interface or one-touch process – so it’s not yet ready for general consumption, but it’s already working. Check out Erica’s piece HERE for all the details and more screencaps.

So far, all I’ve heard about 1.1.2 says there are no compelling features or improvements outside of languages support, possibly some improvement in speaker volume, and similarly minor things.  Once there is a one-touch jailbreak method, it is probably still worth updating – just to stay on current version.

If you’ve done the 1.1.2 update and found anything new and exciting, let us know …
