Yet Another Way To Outsource Your Brain

Thanks to my use of smartphones over the past few years I find myself needing to / able to remember fewer and fewer important phone numbers.
Well, here’s another way to download things you might otherwise try to remember.

Patrick just turned me on to a little app over at tuaw that has bigICal potential. It takes a record of your iPhone call history and puts it into a special iCal calendar named “Call Log”. Although it (obviously) doesn’t provide any detail on the content of the calls (that would have to be input manually later) it does seem to be a great way to keep an automatic record of who you call and the duration of the conversation. In fact, if the call was to someone in your Address Book their name appears rather than just a number.

I set it up in minutes and the next time I opened iCal all my calls appeared in the new calender.
It is a neat little free app that has the potential to be very useful. The app is Mac only (and requires Leopard- an upgrade I highly recommend regardless) and can be found at http://www.tuaw.com/2007/11/09/iphonelogd-logs-your-calls-in-ical/

So the next time you wonder, “Hmmmmm, did I ever get back to Joe?” all you have to do is open iCal to find out….
