And Stephen Fry Explains What All The iPhone Fuss Is About

Posted on 10 Nov 2007 by PatrickJ

In my previous post, I shared some of Sam Leith’s cutting and funny words on how overblown all of the iPhone launch day stuff has become, as well as some scathing lines about those who line up to buy the iPhone.  back1

Leith’s words remind you that an iPhone purchase must seem a little bit crazy to lots of sensible folks when they weigh up carrier contract lock-in, no 3G yet, no GPS, no Exchange support, and so on.

So luckily Stephen Fry found time to provide the perfect response to all those who ‘don’t get’ the iPhone’s attraction – to remind us exactly what all the fuss is about:

In the end the iPhone is like some glorious early-60s sports car. Not as practical, reliable, economical, sensible or roomy as a family saloon but oh, the joy.

If you want to feel reassured about just how wonderful the iPhone is, and how radically it has changed the playing field and forced all its competitors to try hard to raise their game, check out the rest of Fry’s post at:
