According to an insider at O2, there were just over 8,000 iPhone activations at close of business this past friday. Expectations within O2 were apparently for somewhere around 3,000 activations… So the opening day of sales more than exceeded their expectations. I knew our friends in the UK would embrace the iPhone quickly 🙂
If you’re looking for a 1 or 2-year contract, you’ll be out of luck in the UK. Just like Apple’s contract with AT&T in the US, O2 has a 5-year contract. For those of you in the UK, get settled into that and lets hope for some choice come 2012.
I’ll do my best to keep up on the sales numbers in the UK… So far, the iPhone launch in Europe is looking to be quite a success.
