System-Wide Search for iPhone in February?

A leading financial analyst is reporting that the next ‘major’ update for the iPhone will come out next February and that it will include a system-wide search feature that will be similar to Spotlight on a Mac.

The new search feature will enable users to easily locate contacts, emails, phone numbers, or calendar events through a single search interface on the touch-screen handsets, according to Gene Munster, an analyst with the Piper Jaffray investment bank.

Here’s hoping this rumor is accurate, as this would be a superb addition for the iPhone.  I also wouldn’t mind at all if we could go a couple months without another update, just to get a little break from the update / downgrade / jailbreak cycle 🙂
