Mippin – Clever iPhone Start Page

I like using a start page when I’m on a PC – a page that aggregates your favorite sites and miscellaneous preferred widgets neatly onto one main page, from which it’s easy to work with certain items in place, or jump out to other sites as needed.  My favorite for quite a while has been Netvibes – but the Netvibes iPhone version has not gripped me as yet – it’s a little too slow loading and I just don’t go to it that often.

Last night I came across Mippin – and I think I’ve found my iPhone start page!  It does several things that I really like –

  • Makes navigation feel smooth and simple all the way through
  • "Mippin delivers information from thousands of websites in the perfect format for the iPhone." It formats ALL the pages for iPhone. Many sites offer the first couple levels of navigation as iPhone optimized pages and then suddenly jump you out to a full page when you get down to an individual article – but Mippin keeps it all optimized which makes it very easy to stay within Mippin for quite a bit of reading.
  • Makes the whole process of personalizing it very simple and quick, so I feel like it’s bending to my will almost immediately
  • Offers easy links on every article allowing you to email it, or share it via Twitter or Facebook – I find this a hugely useful feature that too many sites either don’t implement at all, or do so in a clumsy way
