OurStage is a very cool site for judging and discovering new Indie music, which rewards the artists very well. They have just launched an iPhone optimized site where you can stream all of their top-rated songs.
OurStage is a site that lets users rank and buy Indie songs. Artists upload the songs, which users then judge
– two song snippets are heard and the user votes for which one he or she likes the best. The result is constantly updated top lists
of songs. The top songs overall or by category are then listed on the site, and two $5,000 prizes are given to the top artists each month.
You can also purchase unrestricted MP3 tracks at the OurStage (full) sit e, for $0.99 – and the artists currently get 100% of the proceeds!
The new iPhone site looks good. You just choose your genre – from a fairly broad list – and it shows you the Top 20 songs. There’s a pretty good album art sort of screen when you select an individual song, and songs are streamed using Quicktime.
