Zinio LLC, has introduced Zinio Mobile Newsstand for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Developed by Zinio’s research and development group, Zinio Labs, the Mobile Newsstand offers mobile users a new way to read a number of favorite magazines. Zinio is initially offering free digital editions of a good number of top-selling titles, including:
- American Photo
- Black Enterprise
- Car & Driver
- Macworld
- Mens Health
- NME
- Playboy
- Popular Mechanics
The magazines in the Zinio Mobile Newsstand are exact replicas of the print version, and are free to access without a subscription right now.
I’ve only had a very quick look at the Zinio site, but it looks as if there is still some work needed to make the pages easily readable and browsable. I looked at a couple of titles and both required a whole lot of pinching and fiddling around to even get close to being a readable size, even in landscape mode.
