There are few things in this world that are guaranteed to grab my attention, and funky graphics are always on the top of my list. So when USBFever.com announced their fun new line of graphic case for the Apple iPhone, I just couldn’t pass it up.

I won ‘t bore you too much with all the ‘specs ‘ and whatnot in this review, instead I’ll focus more on what new things this case brings to the table.

The Good:

Off the bat, I ‘m really digging this case. The Disc Jockey graphic is very nice, and the color is vibrant. My iPhone fits the case perfectly, and it doesn’t really add much bulk or weight. While you won’t see me using this case when I go to some important meetings or anything formal, I’m proud enough to have this on my iPhone on a regular day.

It is also a big plus that I can access all the ports, buttons, and sockets of my iPhone without much hassle. Although, I can’t dock my iPhone while it’s in the case, removing the case is quite easy compared to other similar cases that I have owned before. If you are planning to use this case on your belt, then you are out of luck as the case doesn’t come with a belt-clip. I personally wouldn’t want a belt-clip blocking the graphics anyway, so not having a belt-clip is actually a good thing.

Like most plastic cases, the crystal case did a great job in protecting my precious iPhone from the everyday bump and grind. Since there’s not a belt-clip, that means I have to carry my iPhone in my pocket. I always have a tendency to bump corners, and it’s usually when my gadget is my pocket. The case doesn’t have any protection for the front face of the iPhone. So I always make a habit of making sure that the front of my iPhone is facing towards me when it’s in my pocket.

The Bad & the Ugly:

I can’t help but ask the question. Is there such thing as quality control at USBfever.com? While I didn’t notice any signs of quality deficiencies on the pictures posted on the website, the review unit I have received was just the opposite. I’ve noticed a lot of paint over-spray on edges and holes. I was also disappointed to see that the two-halves don’t quite give me the “clean” fit that I’ve expected from a case like this. While it never did come off while I’m using the case, I still have that lousy feeling that it will. I’m really hoping the retail version of this case doesn’t suffer the same inconsistency.

Final thoughts:

I really love this case, and if not for such half-baked workmanship on the paint job, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone. While I can’t and won’t assume that all of the crystal cases will be suffering from the same issue, it still won’t change the fact that the one I got is just not acceptable. I would love to hear from someone who ordered this case, and see whether you’ve experienced any similar issues.
