With a few iPhones floating around the office, and no iTunes enabled Starbucks in sight – we were feeling a bit disenfranchised up here in lovely Cambridge. Given that, and our love of “just in time” information, we felt we had to take matters into our own hands. And so we did.

Pretty slick hack, from the folks at Synthesis Studios – a ‘product design and contract engineering firm on the edge’ in Cambridge, Mass.  If you get yourself outside their offices and jump on T-Mobile’s WiFi network and hit the iTunes Music Store, it’ll take you to the screen above.  OK, so it doesn’t do an awful lot for you – but it’s definitely worth a tip of the cap for the ‘just because we can’ spirit of this one!

Oh, and they’re thinking of trying to get it to stream their company’s hold music when you hit the Starbucks button.  That would be very cool – always assuming their hold music doesn’t suck 🙂

If you happen to be in their area, you may want to give this one a whirl – here’s the how-to details:

Want to check it out for yourself? It’s easy: hop on the T to Porter Square in Cambridge, stand outside our office, tune to the “tmobile” WiFi network (you should be able to pick it up from the street), and fire up the WiFi iTunes store on your phone. Now check out that Starbucks button! (you’ll notice that we’re hiring too)
