Video QuickLook: OtterBox Defender for iPhone

Hey everybody – Just a couple notes about this quick look video.

First – I’m very sorry for the lighting. It is terrible and if I get a chance I’ll re-do this video at some point. I’m actually considering ordering the yellow version as well so if I do I’ll make sure to include that. I think that really speaks volumes for how much I like this case. I was given this as a review unit and I’m really heavily considering purchasing the case ($50) myself as well.

Second – The screen bubbles I mentioned came back. I decided to figure out how to get rid of these and found that a VERY LIGHT application of baby powder to the inside of the case plastic has worked wonders. Put a small amount of baby powder onto the iPhone cloth and rub down the inside of the screen protector. No more sticky! EDIT: This direct from Otterbox:

A quick note: we ‘ve actually discovered that the ‘bubbles ‘ are caused by the iPhone screen being too clean or too dirty. Just the right amount of natural oils (from your hand) will make these bubbles disappear. We suggest just running your hand across your iPhone screen or cleaning it thoroughly and then rubbing your hand across. Let me know if that helps. We don ‘t recommend the baby powder as the inside of the case screens are not scratch-resistant, the outside of the case screens are but the inside screens need to be carefully handled.

Third – I made this video before I found out Dan was reviewing it as well. Since Dan covered most off the points I would have made in a written review, I’ll leave you to read his excellent write-up.

Finally – Yes, the case is big. Yes it makes the iPhone a bit heavier (total weight with case is 7oz – or 2.2 oz heavier) and adds thickness to the case. It still isn’t as thick with the Otterbox case as my Cingular 8525.

Is it worth it? Absolutely. I love this case. End of story.
