Top 10: Reasons I Love My Macs

Top 10 Reasons Why I Love MacAs a former PC guy (I had used PC’s for many, many years) I thought I should write a little article on why I appreciate the mac so much. Below are the top 10 things I appreciate most about the mac setup.

1. The Products Work
I’m no tech genius, and have never claimed to be. For years I had worked in a PC environment with other techs that would help solve problems day in and day out. I was getting tired of it. I wanted to be able to solve my own problems, but better than that, I wanted a system that wouldn’t produce these problems in the first place! I found that with my first mac. Turn it on and it works.

2. Troubleshooting Isn’t For Geeks Anymore
Almost anyone can troubleshoot a mac. Why? Because setup and installation of absolutely everything is easy. If something goes wrong, just refer to your user guide that came with the software or hardware. You’ll find that over time and you become more proficient with the mac, you can do more and more things as well. ‘Cool’ things that are not necessary for the average user, but once you learn them you might want to give them a try!

3. Looks Good, Performs Even Better
Not only do the systems look good, but they perform at a top level. You can truly customize your system any way you want it. From the macbook to macbook pro and mac pro, there are endless options for your needs. So when you order up a new system, you know its not only going to look good, but it’s going to perform at a top level as well.

4. Plug ‘n Play
I don’t pretend to be a techy. I’m not a wiz at troubleshooting and fixing problems. With that in mind I appreciate that I can simply plug n’ play almost everything in the mac lineup.

5. Work Can Be Fun
I don’t know about you but I enjoy getting to work on my mac much more than on the old PC’s I used to use. I’m not waiting 10 minutes as the system boots up… The displays are wonderful and rich… and the darn thing doesn’t crash on me.

6. Simple, Clean and Simple
I know where everything is. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. I’ve never found myself hunting through user or system folders trying to find something. In fact, if I DID hunt through folders to find something, it meant I was tinkering with something I probably shouldn’t have been tinkering with in the first place! Everything is where it should be and is easy to use and find.

7. Networking is ridiculously easy
Can you turn on a computer? Good. Can you tick ‘file sharing’ in the ‘sharing’ tab in System Preferences? Ok good. You can now network your macs. There are all kinds of other sharing you can do as well. Printer, bluetooth, you name it. If you can tick off a checkbox you’re in business.

8. Vivid and Colorful Displays
My glossy 15 inch macbook pro and 23 inch cinema display are in a word, beautiful. The colors are amazing. It’s truly a joy to work on a mac display, especially as a designer!

9. Data Recovery and Backup Protection
Time machine is a simple and elegant solution to data recovery and backup. I no longer need to worry about losing work, time or both. Purchase a separate hard drive, hook it up to Time Machine and off you go!

10. Sayonara ‘Blue Screen of Death’
No crashing, no ‘Blue Screen of Death’, no problems. Well, ok sometimes I have received a kernel panic on my new macbook pro, but the problems in comparison to my old PC’s… there’s no comparison. At least once a day in my old PC days the computer would inevitably freeze or do something funky. With my macs, I’ve never had to worry about this. I can fix any problems that come up and am confident in the reliability and stability of the OS.
