Quicken Coming to iPhone, at $3/Month

Quicken – the market leading personal finance software from Intuit – is coming to the iPhone next month.  Quicken’s new online service – due home_business_2008_lrgto launch on January 8th – will be available via standard web browsers, but will also boast a version that is optimized for the iPhone.

Intuit has said they will bring along other mobile versions that are tailored to other mobile devices and platforms, but they have not said when that will happen.

Here’s what Intuit had to say about why an iPhone version comes first:

They said they decided to tweak the product for the iPhone ahead of other devices because Apple enthusiasts tend to be early adopters of new technologies. They may be more likely to embrace a software as a service product, said Jim Del Favero, product manager for the Quicken group.

Seems like the even better reason for targeting iPhone users first would be all those staggering numbers for iPhone’s browser market share.  Those numbers prove that iPhone users are using their mobile web browser, and using it heavily.  Just about every day we see more iPhone optimized sites, many of them from organizations who probably never gave a second thought to a mobile version before.

Are any of you hardcore Quicken users?  Will you be trying it out on your iPhone?
