Native Chess App for iPhone Launched

Robota Softwarehouse has just launched the first native Chess game for iPhone.

This is turning into an excellent weekend if you’re after games for your iPhone.  Yesterday saw the first public release of the psx4iPhone Playstation Emulator, and an update for the excellent iBlackjack game – and today we’ve got Chess.

This new Chess game works well.  It’s very easy to play (thochess2ugh not to win necessarily), there’s very little lag when you are choosing an moving your pieces, and it looks good.

You can choose from a few different styles for how your board looks – the wood option shown above, or brown, basic, or funky.  You can also select the level of difficulty you’d like, and whether or not you’d like the game t o save on exit.  Choosing to save on exit works nicely and means of course that you can start a game, break off and do things in another app, and jump straight back into your game, right where you left it, when you next launch the app.

This is a bit of a changeup from Robota, who have previously released a series of very useful utility applications for iPhone – the Screenshot screen capture app, SysInfo for system and process monitoring, and iSpit

Chess is available now on Installer, or you can go look at more details on it and download it direct from Robota’s site:
