My iPhone Wish

So here we are just about time for MacWorld and everyone’s all excited about the 1.1.3 update that’s about to come out. There’s mentions of Cut and Paste, wiggly icons, and all sorts of other stuff.

We all have our own ideas of what we want on the iPhone. But having followed iPhone news since almost the beginning there’s always one topic that seems to dominate them all – Customization. Big word I know. But have you noticed the amount of hits we (and other sites) get when it comes to applications like Customize and SummerBoard? Have you noticed when someone jailbreaks the first thing they want to show you is the cool theme they put on it? So with big hit numbers, lots of discussions, and all sorts of themes all over the place – I have a question.

WHY is it that no "iPhone wishlist" type of posts in the 2007 wrap-ups asked for customization of the iPhone interface? Why didn’t anyone ask to be allowed to change the wallpaper? Why didn’t anyone ask to be able to change the icons?

Did everyone forget that SummerBoard doesn’t come with the iPhone? Did everyone forget that the black background, horrible icons, and lame dock are all forced upon you with no way to change it? Does everyone like that layout so much that it doesn’t matter if they want to change it?

Personally – You can put all kinds of cool features in 1.1.3 but until someone gets SummerBoard running … you can keep it. I don’t want to Back in Black.
