Erica Sadun – iPhone hacker, app developer, author, and trusty TUAW writer - has had a look at the way the iPod Touch upgrade package was delivered, and has some insight on the delivery mechanism Apple will likely be using for iPhone and iPod Touch apps very soon.
A couple of the key points are that the apps will be delivered much like iPod games currently are via iTunes, and that they won’t be easily pirated.
iTunes delivery is not a surprise, though I’ll miss Installer for sure. Apart from that, I’m just ready for February / SDK / sanctioned apps to hurry up and arrive.
