talked to apple support today and they tell me it is a problem with my wireless router which is complete BS cuz i use a wireless router on my htc cell phone and when im home it tells me im 5 miles away but it works when i leave my street.. strange to say the least but at least i have google maps on my htc TP2 !

My new Ipod Touch 3rd Generation 8gb says I live in Florida when I live in Harrisburg,Pennsylvania..Is there any way to fix this? I have tried restoring the device…I tried resetting all the setting and nothing is fixing it…It says Im 1,340.4 miles away from my real location..WTF

My new 32gb Ipod Touch “Maps” has worked well here in NYC and last week in Paris. Suddenly last night in a theater I was working in, my locate feature told me I was in Seattle. Even my “Find Hotspots” App only showed Hotspots in the Seattle area. When I got home it corrected itself and found me where I really am. How does this happen?

well, I have an iPhone and it drops me right in the middle pf Kansas too. I’m really in Virginia. There are only a few places it does this and one of them is when I’m connected to the cell tower close to my house. If I go to another place in town and connect to a different tower it works fine. It also works fine pretty much anywhere else. So it doesn’t seem to be lack of gsm support.

go to the apple Canada site and look at the ipod touch maps application…

It is supposed to work in Canada too…

the google maps application on ipod touch does not have the ability to locate where you are because ipod touch is not integrated with any kind of gsm module, and the google maps on iphone locates where you are by connecting to your gsm operator signal towers. so this is not a problem of your ipod touch, this is just inability.

I am having the same problem with my ipod. Mine also shows that I am in Kansas, I have no idea what is wrong but I hope it gets fixed.

Anyone know what is wrong????
