Plaxo Pulse Now Has an iPhone Version

If you’re anything like us, you can’t stop checking your Pulse. If you’re anything like some of us (the cool ones), you also have an iPhone. That’s why us cool people got together to make a special iPhone version of Pulse. Everything is custom made for that little iPhone screen …

Plaxo’s Pulse is the latest web service / app to bring out an iPhone optimized version of their site.

I had not looked at Plaxo in years – always had their initial, spam-like offerings in mind and had never given them  a glance until this afternoon.  Wow have they changed – now there’s a real social network sort of focus to it – their Product Manager even describes it as "a great way to see what your friends, family, contacts are doing all around the web" in their little Intro video for the iPhone version.  It looks worth a try.  I signed up today and have been trying out their iPhone and desktop browser versions, and liking them so far.

One disappointing thing with the iPhone version is that it only shows the Pulse, Connections, and Profile tabs of the app.  It does not let you see or work with the Notes, Tasks, Calendar tabs as yet.  That’s a shame, as those would be very handy to work with, and maybe even a good alternative to Google Notebook, if they can be linked to contacts etc.

The iPhone version *does* currently offer a link at the bottom of all pages to switch to the regular site.  Hurrah – we like having the choice – and when you switch to the full site, you can view and edit notes, and work with Calendar, Tasks etc.

Hopefully, access to these other parts of Plaxo Pulse will be coming to the iPhone version as well.
