Are you using Summerboard. I don’t think this is a permissions thing, as in that case you would see the icon, but the app would fail to launch.

Do I have to change permissions or something? Might I have to delete icons so that my .app file has room to appear in the first springboard? I’ve tried it with a bunch of different websites and .png images too, I’m not sure why this isn’t working…

Did that give you a file or a folder with a name ending in .app?

Do I have to do anything more than resetting it by holding the power and home button?

To get to the /Applications folder you need to make sure you have OpenSSH installed on your iPhone – you should see it under Network or System category in Installer (can’t recall which). Then grab an app like Putty or (my preference) WinSCP for your PC. Then do this:
— Check your current IP address on the iPhone, via Settings > WiFi > click on the little blue arrow next to your network you’re connected to – make a note of the IP address as you’ll need it to connect via WinSCP.
— launch WinSCP and enter the iPhone IP address in the host name field, for username and password enter root and alpine, then switch the File Protocol drop-down to SCP – and connect.
— You’ll get a confirmation message to do with key creation, just say Yes to it
— Then you should connect and see an Explorer-like view – with the iPhone’s file structure in the right-hand pane of the window
— You may need to go up a couple levels to see the /Applications folder
Hope that helps …

However, I’m not quite sure what to do once I have the .app file from iPhone Apper. I’m on a PC and don’t know how to get to the applications folder.

Looks like it should do the job. I’ve never tried it, but remembered seeing it a while back. It’s at:
