O2 Comes Through With Better Plans for UK iPhone Users

Always nice to see a carrier come through and give its customers a bit more for their money, rather than just continually upping their rates (cough, AT&T, cough).  Maybe iPhone sales in the UK really are slower than O2 is wanting, or perhaps they’re just very, very nice folks huh?

In any case, whatever the motivation, O2 are about to make things quite a bit better for existing and new iPhone customers in the UK.

While owners of other phones will have to wait for their contracts to renew before seeing benefits, existing iPhone owners will be able to switch to expanded plans come February 1st. Those paying for the £35-per-month contract will receive three times their current minutes, and double the number of SMS messages; new is the £45-per-month plan, which will grant the same amount of minutes and texts as the former £55 plan.

Those already on the £55 plan will have to migrate, either to the £45 plan or an upper-tier £75 option, which supplies 3,000 minutes and 500 texts. O2 is defaulting people to the cheaper of the two.

Very good stuff, that’s bound to make some UK iPhone users pretty happy.  In fact, UK iPhoners have got it pretty good overall it seems to me – with these new rate plans and The Cloud WiFI network at your disposal – either one of those sort of initiatives would be nice to see from AT&T …
