Facebook and Vodafone Join Forces

Following yesterday’s new iPhone Facebook Ad touting a version of the service optimized for the iPhone… They’re at it again with a new announcement. Facebook is stepping deeper into the mobile realm, launching a platform for operators designed to make the social networking giant more accessible and workable on portable devices.

Vodafone will be the first operator to use the Facebook for Mobile Operators platform. They’ve started using the platform in the U.K. and Germany… and will soon be expanding to Greece, Italy, Ireland, Portugal and Spain.

The new platform gives operators technical specs that should resolve the usual hang-ups when trying to use Facebook on a mobile phone.

The move by Facebook is intended to grow its user base, which the company estimates at 64 million users. So far, the company says it has 6 million users of Facebook Mobile.

That’s all well and good for mobile users… But for the rest of us that are on the iphone… Check out the link below to get ‘Facebook’n’. 🙂

To access Facebook for the iPhone, visit http://iphone.facebook.com (on your iPhone of course!)
