Outsync – Sync Facebook Friends’ Pics to Outlook & iPhone

Outsync is a very handy tool for any of you who use Outlook and Facebook, and would like to have pictures to link to more of your contacts on the iPhone.  This handy little program lets you sync your Facebook friends’ pics to Outlook.

I like having a picture associated with contacts on the iPhone and find it very helpful – it makes it much easier to decide with just a glance whether you want to take a call, for instance.

A problem for me has always been that I just don’t have photos attached to that many of my contacts in Outlook.  But in Facebook, nearly all my friends have a pic attached to their profile – and Outsync bridges that little gap for me.

Outsync does not try to grab phone numbers or email addresses etc. from Facebook, as that would probably be against Facebook’s terms of use.  It’s just a very straightforward app that finds contacts that exist in both Outlook and Facebook, and offers to sync the Facebook pics for them across to Outlook – and of course once they’re in Outlook, you can sync them over to your iPhone.  One quick tip on this, if you see that several of your friends that exist in both places are not showing up as available to sync – make sure the Outlook ‘File As’ choice for them matches the way they’re listed in Facebook.  For example, if I file someone as Smith, John in Outlook but Facebook shows him as John Smith, Outsync won’t see them as the same contact.

Outsync is a quick and easy way to get pictures attached to lots more contacts, if you’re an Outlook and Facebook user.
