9to5Mac has got a post up covering tips they have received that say there’s another major price cut coming for the iPhone and iPod Touch – maybe as soon as the rumored late February (SDK announce?) event.
We just got a tip that Apple is planning on dropping the prices again on the iPhone and iPod line within the next month or two – perhaps at the late February event, perhaps as late as mid-April. Our tipster says that Apple will drop the prices $100 on both the iPod Touch and iPhone lines.
The predicted new set of prices inlcude $399 for a 16GB iPhone, or a 32GB iPod Touch. And the reasons behind the new price cuts – if they happen – are that these will help perk up possibly flagging sales, and will also pave the way for 3G iPhones later this year.
I know lots of people will be unhappy about further price cuts, but I feel fine with them. For me, the first set of price cuts were too soon and badly handled – but by now, anything that helps sales and maybe gives Apple more money to pump into further development and enhancements to the iPhone, is a good thing in my view.
It does seem like now is a good time to be patient if you’re thinking of an iPhone or Touch purchase though – wait and see how much sweeter the deals might get in the next couple months …
