Here’s one bit of modding that may save you a fair chunk of change, but also requires some cojones, or just some solid hardware skills, to take advantage of.
USBfever are selling an iPhone replacement battery, and a toolset to go with it, for $24.99. So if you’re OK with voiding your warranty and probably having to do a bit of soldering to make it work, this will save you having to fork over $79 plus shipping to have Apple replace your iPhone’s battery when the time comes.
