iCopy is the first (that I know of) application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows you to copy and paste text and URL’s between web pages. You also have the option of emailing copied text or URL’s.
Whoa – a little bit of copy and paste action on the iPhone! iCopy only works within Safari, as you can see from the developer’s description above, but let’s face it – seeing any sort of copy&paste on the iPhone right now makes you stop in your tracks.
And iCopy works fairly well in its first release. You can copy a URL, or a block of text, onto another web page, or into a new email.
iCopy uses a bookmarklet, just like iTransmogrify, which lets you view a lot of Flash content on the iPhone. You save a bookmark for iCopy, then edit it per some simple instructions on the iCopy web-site, and whenever you want to copy something, you call up the bookmark and make easy one tap choices to copy or paste, copy a block of text or a URL, and so on.
For now, you can only copy a whole paragraph, not a selected
line or portion of text, and some sites do not work (mainly those with frames apparently). One thing I would really like to be able to use this for is to copy chunks of text into Evernote or Google Notebook, or similar online note-taking or doc creation sort of apps – but so far I can’t get that to work, because as soon as you choose to edit an existing or new note, it invokes the keyboard and does not let you access the Bookmarks menu that you need in order to paste in your text.
iCopy is being developed by Preston Monroe. To learn more about it and get it working on your iPhone, go to:

I spotted this new applet thanks to a post from EIC member Napoleon_PhoneApart – if there’s a better nick for a mobile / phones forum member, I haven’t seen it so far …
