iLounge is reporting that 16GB iPhones are tough to come by in the US and Germany. In fact, T-Mobile Germany is apparently not even OFFERING the 16GB version right now and word is this may continue into May.
Rumor? Perhaps but my experience yesterday suggests it is accurate.
Looking to beef up my storage prior to a trip and the flood of new applications that will soon be released, I went looking for a 16GB iPhone yesterday. Neither of the Apple Stores within my reach had any in stock. In fact, the saleswoman I spoke to at one laughed and said ‘No, not right now, sorry” which, translated by Google-translate means “If I get one more call of a 16 GB iPhone today I’m gonna friggin’ scream!!!”
I had the same experience with all three AT&T wireless stores near me. Each told me that they get shipments every day but in such limited numbers that they are gone within an hour or so. I was lucky enough that I called one a second time just as the UPS driver was leaving the store.
Maybe the goal of selling 10,000,000 before the end of 2008 isn’t so far fetched after all.
