The Chicago Tribune is the latest US newspaper to bring out an iPhone optimized site.  Chicagotribune.com has launched the beta version of the iPhone site this month.

The site’s pages load quickly, and have some helpful features:

• Tap once on a story headline to see a brief summary, similar to what you’d see in an RSS feed.  Tap on the "More’ link at the bottom of the summary to see the full article.
• Easy links for switching back and forth between the iPhone site and the full site
• A sports section, which many iPhone newspaper sites seem to have neglected
• Good nav links to go back one page and to skip back to the home page

I’m not fond of the garish, huge red block treatment for Breaking News; there should be a more elegant way to handle this -  but overall the site looks OK.
