smartRSS is a new RSS reader for the iPhone; the second iPhone native app in this category that I’m aware of (see HERE for some thoughts on the first one). It’s just been released in Installer during the last day or so.
This new app has a very nice look and feel to it. Buttons and graphics are bright and strong, article summaries are nicely laid out, and it is easy to navigate and use.
All good stuff, except for one thing. It has no ability to import your feeds via an .opml file. That’s a huge miss for me, and I expect for many people. It is just way too much of a pain in the neck to manually enter long feed URLs. Maybe when the iPhone gets copy and paste, maybe I’d work with this a little – but for now I have to say it looks great but it’s a non-starter without some sort of import capability. Hopefully we’ll see that in an update soon.
