iPhoneHome iPhone app

iPhoneHome – the nifty little app that lets you set any application (or a number of other handy shortcuts) to open on a double-press of the Home button – has finally been updated and now works with the iPhone’s latest firmware, 1.1.4.

As you can see in the screencap above, my choice was a pretty quick one, assigning Snapture to be my quick-open program.  iPhone Home will let you assign the Home button double-tap to open any application installed on your iPhone (built-in or 3rd party), or to choose one of a number of other useful shortcuts – such as:

  • iPhone Favorites (favorite phone numbers)
  • Phone Recents
  • Phone Keypad
  • Voicemail
  • Individual phone number
  • Blank email

I’m pretty sure the phone keypad is a new option (but it’s been a while since I used the old version of this app) – and I was happy to see it also recognizes Springdial speed-dial shortcut icons you’ve created as individual apps – so you can choose one of those as well.

iPhoneHome is out now on Installer …

I could never decide what app to use for this setting, but I finally settled on WiFiSwitch. It’s a quick way to turn off the WiFi on the phone, which I usually do immediately after use to save battery power. I also find that when WiFi is spotty, Safari runs faster when it only has access to Edge than when it tries going back and forth.

Having it set to the home button makes the process a whole lot quicker than going through settings.

Any idea how to get a 5 icon dock on 1.1.4? Customize keeps crashing.

hseplow – that is a great use for it! I may need to give that a shot.

    On the 5-icon dock question – I don’t know – I’ve always stayed away from Customize …
