Docs is a new iPhone document viewing app released by BigBoss today. Although there are already several document viewer apps around, Docs has a couple features that make it quite a good option in this category.
With Docs, you can view text files, Word .doc files, as well as Excel and .pdf files. Files are viewed in Safari, with all its zooming and scrolling abilities in play. Unlike WildEyes – one of the best existing file viewers – you do not need to have any sort of server running in order for Docs to work, although it does require that you install the 1.1.3 / 1.1.4 Safari Patch. WildEyes needs the Lighttpd server running in order to function.
Docs also lets you set your default folder, where it will recognize docs to load. So, for instance, you could create your own new folder for this purpose and then just point Docs at it so it always looks there for files to load in future.
Docs looks like another useful and solid app from the BigBoss source. It’s available now on Installer – you’ll need to have added the BigBoss source (listed below) to see it, and you’ll also have to have first installed the 1.1.3/1.1.4 Safari Patch from the Tweaks (1.1.3) category:
