When Apple ships its iPhone 2.0 update–and the accompanying App Store for distributing third-party software for the phone–you won’t have to wait too long for native iPhone apps built by Google programmers.
"We expect to have applications at Day One," said Vic Gundotra, Google’s vice president of engineering.
That sounds good. Very good in fact. Google have already shown the iPhone a ton of love, with the excellent native Maps application and YouTube, as well as their constantly improving collection of mobile and iPhone optimized versions of standards like Google Reader, Gmail, and others.
It sure will be nice to see some more local app offerings from them though – especially on Day 1 of the new App Store. Which ones would you all most like to see? Reader and Docs for me please …
