I’d be very shocked to see the next release feature a user-replaceable battery. I’d be ecstatic if that was the case, but Apple is very stubborn and they haven’t done it with iPod, so why would they start with iPhone?

1. Prediction: Bigger form factor is because there will be a replaceable battery.

Apple has an incentive to move this device into the corporate world and I think having a removable battery would remove one obstacle.

2. It’s hard for me to say that there would be any design changes that I’d want. I think the form factor is optimal as is.

I’d like it to be less “slippery” and for the earpiece volume to be louder.

3. Agree on the prediction/hopes for 32GB memory – though if the subsidy rumors are correct then there’s a possibility that Apple will keep the memory down to reduce their cost.

There’s also a lot of incentive for Apple to re-use as much of their form factor to keep design costs down.

4. Standardized third party apps via version 2.x is enough reason for most people to upgrade.

Question:

Will AT&T be providing upgrades at a reduced rate for those who are only a year into contracts? If not then the “sell through” may be less than predicted UNLESS there is a MUST HAVE feature.
