I’ve been discovering some very nice new ‘little’ apps for the Phone, as I’ve had some unplanned downtime over recent days. I say little apps because they are pretty single-purpose in their focus, and mostly big fun and not ‘big productivity’ sort of programs.
One of these is Euro 2008, from the iSpazio source – which is a handy guide to the upcoming European Championships that start this weekend. I’m a big, big fan of The Beautiful Game, as in Football of the Futbol variety (or, if you must, the soccer variety) – and always look forward to the big tournaments.
The European Championships – pitting 16 of Europe’s best teams against each other to determine who’s best on the continent – are considered by many to be the biggest tournament outside of the World Cup, and many would even say they’re tougher as the pool of teams is smaller and there are no easy games right from the off.
After years of living in the UK, my team is and always will be England. As they did not qualify this year, some would say it’s not worth watching. For me, it is still a big deal and there should be lots of glorious football to watch, from the likes of Portugal (and the sheer genius of Christiano Ronaldo), France, Spain, Italy, Holland, and others. I can’t wait.
The Euro 2008 iPhone app offers tournament schedules (so you can start making up work excuses now), each nation’s squad listing, details on match officials and past tournament winners – and all of it in a multitude of languages. There are also plans for it to have compiled and live match results as soon as the tournament is under way.
So if you’re a footie fan, you’ll want to grab this useful app to keep you up to speed with a great tournament. My biggest problem now is just deciding who to root for with England absent š
Euro 2008 is available vie the iSpazio source, which is now part of Community Sources – so you should see it without a need for adding any additional sources …
