Cybersaurus = New 3D Shooter Game for iPhone
Cybersaurus is a new addition to Installer this weekend, offering a promising-looking 3D shooter and adventure game for the iPhone – based around a back story involving dinosaurs coming back to reclaim their planet.
Darxun Games are the creators of the game, and have just ported it over to the iPhone.
I have only given Cybersaurus a very brief look so far, but the game seems to have a decent number of features and options – such as:
- 11 full 3D levels , 6 different planets and environments.
- 3D Engine with astonishing light system . It also supports landscape mode for 320×480 devices (on supported devices),
- 3D Audio engine.
- Full 3D Animations.
It does not strike me as one of the the most visually stunning jailbreak games I’ve seen over recent months, but looks good enough and seems quite playable.
Cybersaurus is out now on Installer via the MMi source, which is part of the standard Community Sources – so you should see it as long as your sources are refreshed …
Although I admire the effort, I really don’t think these kind of games and graphics are really right for the iPhone. Trying to go for the look of games like Quake really doesn’t do it for me unless the system is powerful enough to go all the way. I’d rather have more stylized graphics than an attempt at a blunt 3D world. What tends to happen with games like this is a lot of bland texturing and low-detail models.
The same goes for systems like the DS. They do (and look) a lot better when the games have slicker, thicker graphics, rather than try to imitate a 3D setup on a PC game.
And d-pad style controls on a touch screen is not going to do our hands any favours
