As the weeks roll by – *way* too slowly – towards the launch of iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store, it’s going to be very interesting to keep up with which jailbreak apps will make the crossover to the land of ‘legit’ app sales, and which will remain jailbreak only.
One very popular jailbreak app that has already announced it will NOT be making it over to the App Store is Intelliscreen – which presents ‘Today screen like’ information on the iPhone’s Slide To Unlock screen.
Intelliborn – the makers of Intelliscreen – have a simple FAQ item on their site that states:
Can I purchase IntelliScreen from the iTunes App Store?
No – IntelliScreen does not conform to the restrictive terms of Apple’s SDK.
The FAQ does also state that efforts will be made to get Intelliscreen running on firmware 2.0 if possible – but no go for seeing it on the App Store side of things it looks like. For more details, you can see the full FAQ section HERE.
I’m not sure exactly which specific restrictions go against this sort of program, but given the popularity of this sort of solution with many folks I imagine we’ll see some others try to find ways around the rules and offer something similar in the App Store …
