peteo – you may be right, there seems such a lack of clear, consistent answers right now – but I definitely was told there will be a higher-priced option with PAYG. And I think that is their standard fallback for folks who fail the credit check as well …

If you are talking in the United States, the 3G Iphone will not be sold with Pay as you go or Pick your plan. You must sign a 2 year contract. No other options.

@jjvaldez – exactly. I wasn’t really surprised on the contract / price result, and the thing is I’ll get the 3G anyway – but that is one heck of a lousy line for any customer care rep to put out there …

I sopose that since PAYG is not a contracted deal a there is not upgrade status.. That is understandable, but telling people that have payed hard earned money that they are not considered customers is just bad customer service… We are all customers…
