Seems like the hype level for the iPhone 3G is getting turned up just a bit the last couple of days (or maybe it’s just my ever growing anticipation level). Today Apple has released their iPhone 3G Guided Tour video –
providing a rundown of lots of well-known existing features and some new ones.
If you’re an iPhone owner, or even have played with an iPhone for a good number of minutes, a lot of what’s on display in the video is old hat – demos of visual voicemail, the home screen layout, Coverflow, iTunes WiFi Music Store, threaded SMS conversations etc.
There are a few interesting glimpses of new feature along the way though. We get a a look at saving image attachments from within an email, deleting or moving multiple emails at once, and a bit of GPS tracking within Maps.
The App Store gets a nice demo too, and there’s some good talk on the breadth and scope of apps coming via the new store. When downloading a new app from the App Store, the icon for it shows its downloading and installing status, then changes to the name of the program when it is complete – this looks quite cool to me.
Oh, and yes – it is the same guy who’s been around since the beginning who provides the Guided Tour. His charisma level may not quite match up to the iPhone’s 🙂
